The days of the backpack days! I realize now how easy it would have been for someone to reach behind you and lift your wallet..
Fab Friday Find is back!!! How good it feels to be back at a regular computer after two months away! One of the great things about traveling back home and cleaning out the storage unit was getting to see some pictures from the past. Like this Fab Friday Find photo. This is me and my partner in crime S. We had gone to Las Vegas for the weekend. You see, a new hotel had just opened on the strip, and we were anxious to visit it. S. came from Bermuda a few days earlier than usual to spend Thanksgiving so we could check out the new wonder kid on the block that is the Las Vegas Strip. The Bellagio hotel !!!
This picture is dated November 19, 1998 (you gotta love the old days when you actually got pictures printed for posterity). The Bellagio hotel opened on October 15, 1998 according to google. I believe our room per night was about $118 with the offer l received. I still thought that was wicked high because l am cheap :-)…make that frugal! I did ask for an upgrade and they obliged with a beautiful suite overlooking the strip which had an awesome view of the dancing fountain. It was pretty damn impressive. We must have watched the show at least fifty times over the weekend from different angles. This picture was taken at the conservatory. It was all decked out with flowers (not a big fan of flowers personally), but it looked nice. What l loved was the absolutely stunning gallery of art work by the masters, especially the impressionists, and most especially Claude Monet, my absolute favorite.
We saw the production of “O” by Cirque du Soleil. I believe it is still playing there, and do recommend it if you haven’t seen it. It was an absolutely fantastic show. Cirque du Soleil was still kind of new then, now they have like a gazillion shows, and maybe it’s not as exciting as it used to be. We also indulged in a spa day – manicures, pedicures, massages. We sampled the restaurants. We gambled a bit. I lost my whole $50 budget gambling within the first half hour, l was playing the dollar slots. My much smarter friend played the nickel slots, and she ended up winning over $1200 that weekend. Needless to say, she graciously paid for the whole stay! A belated thanks S. 
. I must say that the Bellagio hotel lived up to its hype. I have stayed at quite a few hotels on the strip, and this was by far my favorite. I checked on the Bellagio hotel website, the rooms now start from $325 per night on the weekends. Just a little too rich for my blood, even though l am sure with diligent searching, one could find it for cheaper. For that price, l demand a sea side resort with some scantily clad men serving me drinks in coconuts while fanning me .
